BIOGRAPHY – MAT JODRELL
Mat Jodrell
is one of the outstanding fresh new voices in Jazz today. Originally born in Perth, Western
Australia, Mat is now based in New York City, completing his Masters degree at
the prestigious Juilliard School.
Before relocating to America, he was one of the most in-demand trumpet
players in Australia. Mat was
featured on numerous albums, released and toured his
debut recording ÔBlues In The NightÕ, and toured extensively throughout the
world.
Mat has received
numerous accolades for his tender years, including the NFAA Clifford Brown/Stan
Getz Fellowship (five finalists chosen worldwide), the Young Australian of the
Year Awards, the James Morrison scholarship for most outstanding young
Australian Jazz instrumentalist, and the Bob Wyllie scholarship for best
graduating student.
He has performed with
artists such as Benny Golson, Frank Foster, Branford
Marsalis, Carl Allen, Carmen Lundy, Terri-Lyn Carrington, James Williams, Josh Roseman, Bill Watrous, Gary Bartz, Andy Milne, Terence Blanchard, Terell
Stafford, Graeme Lyall, Don Burrows, and toured the
world with James Morrison for many years with his ÔOn The EdgeÕ project.
