Mat Jodrell & Brian Kellock Duo Album

Brian Kellock

In 2006 while Mat was in Scotland he managed to hook up with world-renowned pianist Brian Kellock. They ended up recording a duo record outside of Edinburgh at Tommy Smith's studio, this being the first time the two had ever played together. The album features a selection of standards, reworked in a way only duo playing can bring about. The space and intimacy of the duo setting inspires a different level of interaction, and the exceptional sound quality Tommy Smith managed to capture gives the listener the perfect seat.

This album is in the process of being produced, hopefully before the end of 2007.

Speedball

Speedball 'Live at the Round Theatre' Recording

All the way back in February 2006, Speedball and the Danny Moss Quartet recorded three nights at the Round Theatre in the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. One night was recorded for DVD release, the others being for CD release.

The material recorded was exceptional, and the beautiful acoustics and live atmosphere of the Round Theatre suited the predominately improvised 'Jazz' art form perfectly. Unfortunately most of Speedball's members are now living elsewhere - Grant Windsor in London, Sam Anning in Melbourne, and Mat Jodrell soon to move to New York. This recording is possibly the last outing for Speedball in it's original form for quite some time.

The material featured on the recording is entirely original compositions, written by the members of the band.

The DVD Live and Swingin' - The Danny Moss Quartet, was released earlier this year from these sessions, and the Speedball material is in the process of mixing and mastering. This also should be released before the end of the year.
